The project w i l l cost billions of dollars, though even i t s supporters admit that it may not produce any immediate comnercial o r military benefits. The Superconducting Super Collider would advance mans knowledge i n the f i e l d of high energy physics, including the testing of theories regard- ing the beginning of the universe and the composition of matter.
