To comply with this directive, OPIC hasdeveloped a multi-stage process to screen proposed projects to determine if they meetthe Corporations environmental standards. OPIC conducts environmental impactassessments of all applicants for its programs and is directed by Congress to protect theenvironment and natural resources of developing countries. In particular, Congress hasdirected OPIC to protect tropi
