Differences over the technologyto be included on the aircraft held up completion of the sale until mid-2000. On April 27,2000, the formal statutory notification of the aircraft sale occurred. After the conclusionof the 30-day congressional review period at the end of May 2000, the President wasauthorized to proceed with the sale. In a broader context, security cooperation betweenthe United States and the UAE has increased since the 1990-91 Persian Gulf crisis.
